Use science and nature to teach unity

RECENTLY, I was scanning the Internet and books on the topic of unity.This is a buzz word word today for everybody on planet Earth.Country after country is trying to find ways and means to bring about unity.

Unity is the only thing that brings blessings to a country in terms of social, economic and spiritual prosperity.

We all connected with nature and one another.

The following passage caught my attention which aptly describes and gives insight into the need for unity.

"Consider the flowers of a garden.Thou differing in kind, colour, form and shape, yet in as much as they are refreshed by the waters of one spring, revived by the braeth of one wind, invigorated by rays of one sun, yheir diversity increaseth their charm unto their beauty.

"How unpleasing to the eye if all flowers and plants, the leaves and blossoms, the branches and the trees of that garden were all the same shape and colour! Diversity of hues, form and shape enricheth and adorneth the garden, and heighteneth the efffect thereof.

"In like manner, when diverse shades of thoughts, temperament and character are brought together under the power and influence of one central agency, the beauty and glory of human perfection will be revealed and made manifest."

The above passage truly explains and elucidates, using nature as an analogy to teach mankind how important unity is for everything how important unity is for everything around us.

There are many examples in science to explain unity.The atom will not optimally function as an atom without harmony between the neutron, electron and proton.

It is high time we use science and nature to teach unity to mankind which we urgently need for our survival as a species. If not our extinction is inevitable.

Don't Take Racial Unity For Granted

1. As Malaysians of Chinese origin celebrate the lunar New Year of the Tiger, it is appropriate for them to ponder and reflect on the past achievement toward nation building and prepare themselves to face the multifarious challenges that lie ahead.As part of the Malaysian community,Malaysian Chinese should take pride in the fact that they have made many contributions since the time of independence to help develop together with their fellow Malaysians,Malaysia into what it is today.
2. The Chinese New Year,just like other Malaysian festivities, should not only be celebrated by the Malaysian Chinese.On the contrary,through the concept of open houses, other race should join in the celebration in the spirit of 1Malaysia.
3. The intermingling of various races during festivities helps to reinforce goodwill, unity and racial harmony in this multiracial country of ours. This is vitally important as it forms the basis for building national unity.
4. I wish to remind all malaysians that racial harmony and unity must never be taken for granted as shown by recent events affecting religious harmony.We have to ensure that the country's unity, painstakingly built and carefully nurtured over over the yaers and which remains one of our conerstones, is not threatened by any quater.
5. To realise this, Malaysians of all races must be totally commited to the need to give and take in a multi-racial community..
6. The fact that all Malaysians are able to live in peace and harmony, so elusieve in other troubled lands, bear testimony to our willingness to co-exist with one another.
7. There for, let it be the resolution of all Malaysians to work tiressly to preserve, protect and promote our peace and harmony.

- Tidak memberitahu jiran dan polis apabila meninggalkan rumag kosong.
- Tiada muafakat sesama jiran untuk mengawasi kediaman masing-masing
- Meletakkan barang bernilai disekitar atau dalam rumah yang dapat dilihat dari luar
- Menunjukkan tanda rumah tidak dihuni seperti langganan akhbar dan roti tidak dihentikan.
- Kedudukan rumah yang terpencil serta struktur rumah yang memudahkan penjenayah memasuki
- Membiarkan pintu atau tingkap terbuka,terdedah tanpa pengawasan atau ditutup tanpa berkunci
- Menggunakan kunci,mangga atau rantai yang mudah diumpil,dipotong atau dibuka dengan kunci tiruan
- Keadaan rumah seperti bumbung,tingkap,dinding dan sebagainya yang memudahkan penjenayah memasukinya.

Cara Pencegahan
- Memaklumkan balai polis yang terdekat tentang alamat rumah,tarikh dan masa anda tidak berada dirumah.
- Tinggalkan maklumat secukupnya bagi memudahkan pihak atau polis memaklumkan sebarang kejadian kepada anda.
- Memasang alat alat keselamatan tambahan pada pintu utama seperti lubang pandangan,mangga dan selak keselamatan
- Jangan tinggalkan sebarang nota yang boleh membantu pemecah rumah bertindak
- Sentiasa pasangkan lampu bila keluar rumah
- Memelihara anjing boleh membantu mengawal rumah
- pasangkan sistem penggera keselamatan yang baik untuk rumah/ bangunan
- Sekiranya bercadang bercuti lama,hentikan langganan akhbar atau roti supaya tidak meninggalkan tanda rumah tiada penghuni

NASIHAT APABILA BERLAKU PECAH RUMAH
- Segera membuat laporan di Balai Polis yang berdekatan
- Jangan menyentuh atau mengubah apa jua barang-barang yang didapati berselerak selepas dimasuki pencuri.Ini bertujuan untuk melindungi bukti ditempat kejadian seperti capjari atau alat-alat yang ditinggalkan oleh penjenayah.

Isu peribadi menenggelamkan minda rakyat dari berfikir tentang masa depan diri,anak cucu,bangsa dan agama jauh lagilah masa depan negara.Seandainya seseorang itu membuat kesilapan dalam masa hidupnya,apa kah dia harus terus membuat atau dianggap akan berbuat demikian sepanjang hayatnya.Lagi-lagi kalau kesilapannya itu telah menerima hukuman.Hukuman yang dijatuhkan merupakan hukuman displin dari badan yang mengawal tatalaku ahli-ahlinya dan harus dingat bahawa badan displin itu bukanlah Mahkamah.Maknanya seperti tindakan displin disekolah atas sesuatu kesilapan atau kenakalan pelajarnya dan "hukuman" itu tidak harus "di cop" sampai sepanjang hayatnya walaupun telah tamat belajar.Wajarkah kalau ia di cop kan didahi sepanjang hidupnya?

Kalau setiap kesilapan seseorang itu diambil kira sebagai petanda bahawa orang itu akan mengulangi kesilapannya maka kita hanya dapat "idola bayangan"yang akhirnya tinggal bayang-bayang sahaja.

Perhatilah di sekeliling kita selepas memerhati dan muhasibah diri kita sebelum kita mengambil tindakan tidak mempercayai seseorang semata mata orang itu ada pernah membuat kesilapan maka dia tidak layak menjadi diberi sokongan untuk dia boleh bekerja kuat membawa kebajikan dan pembangunan rohani dan jasmani kedalam kehidupan kita dimasa hadapan.

Tentukanlah kewarasan kita dapat melihat dan membezakan permata pasir kah yang kita mahu atau permatang pasir yang maju seiring dengan kawasan kawasan yang lain.Tanggal 25 ogos 2009 biarlah kita berfikir tentang masa depan diri,anak cucu,agama dan bangsa 1Malaysia yang maju.

RIGHT SPEECH

There is a chinese saying which carries the meaning that"A speech will iether prosper or ruin a nation." Many relationships break off because of wrong speech.When a couple is too close with each other,we always forget mutual respect and courtesy. We may say anything without considering if it would hurt the other party.
A friend and her millionaire husband visited their construction site. A worker who wore a helmet saw her and shouted, "hi,Emily! Remember me? We used to date in the secondary school." On the way home,her millionare husband teased her, "Luckily you married me.Otherwise you will be the wife of a construction worker." She answered,"You should appreciate that you married me.Otherwise,he will be the millionare and not you."
Frequently exchanging these remarks plants the seed for a bad relationship.It's like a broken egg cannot be reversed.

Saya nak tanyakan satu soalan kepada rakyat Malaysia.Soalannya mudah saja.Soalan berbunyi begini:

Apakah akan terjadi kepada kepada siasatan polis keatas sesuatu pengaduan mangsa rogol atau pun meliwat yang mangsanya terdiri dari kanak kanak atau dewasa yang mana kebetulan adalah saudara mara kita seandainya kesemua orang yang dituduh itu enggan memberi atau membenarkan ujian DNA diambil untuk lengkapkan sesuatu siasatan?

Apa jenis keadilan yang akan simangsa yang kadangkala maseh menyusu akan dapat kalau pihak yang menyiasat tidak dibenarkan mengambil sampel DNA orang yang kena tuduh?

Bolehkah sikecil membantu siasatan tanpa ada DNA orang yang disyaki?

Bolehkah kesemua orang yang dituduh meletak syarat2 dan meminta pasukan forensic dari luar negara untuk menjalankan ujian DNA keatas mereka?

Kalau kita tidak ada keyakinan atau kepercayaan dari semua jabatan dari kehakiman,kesihatan,kimia,polis,pendakwaraya dan lain lain lagi,abis apa yang kita percaya?

Apakah sebab adanya satu dua doktor yang tersilap beri ubat atau membuat kecuaian maka kita tidak lagi percaya kepada doktor,disebabkan ada peguam yg menipu maka kita tidak lagi percaya pada peguam,disebabkan ada tok2 yg merogol cucu,bapa2 yg merogol anak sendiri,abang2 yg merogol adik kandung sendiri maka kita tidak percaya kepada semua "tali persaudaraan ini,disebabkna ada satu dua ustaz atau pak lebai yg melakukan rogol atas anak murid yg dihantar untuk mengaji quran maka kita tidak percaya pada yg lain dan menghalang anak2 dihantar untuk mengaji quran.

Renung2kanlah.kita ada akal fikiran,fikirlah sendiri.

Water rebate may be harmful

I have mixed feelings about the rebate for water in Selangor.
The intentuion is noble,but the act itself may be harmful.While there is reason to rejoice for those whom the rebate will ease financial burden,I cannot help but feel sad to think that more likely than not,a great number of ignorant Malaysians will continue(or even increase)to carelessly waste water.
Malaysia is blessed with plentiful water, a resource so precious globally.
I believe that there is lack of awareness of the fact that water security is an issue plaguing many countries in the world.
While 70% of this fresh water,only 2.5% is fresh water,and 70% of this water is locked up in ice in Antartica and Greenland.
True dry lands extend over nearly half of the earth's land surface and the area is increasing due to various anthropogenic-related stress.
At the conference on water issues some years ago,I was shocked by the attitude displayed by the then Energy,Water and Communications Minister who callously said Malaysia did not have a water issue,and that we had 95% of underground water resources unexplored.
A person in his capacity,I assumed would understand that the underground water is exploited as among the last resort.
In 2005,the department of Environment monitoring activities found that almost 50% of our river basins are polluted to certain degree.
In Selangor alone,only 35% of the rivers are suitable for water intake.It comes as scare commodity in Malaysia,water rebate will be the least of our concerns.

A young lady who was about to get married responded to one of the those 'lurid' and 'suggestive' advertisements for a book that would tell everything a lady should know to prepare her for one of the most important aspects of marriage.The book promised to come with complete and detailed instructions.
After several days of waiting and anticipation,the postman finally delivered a book that fulfilled every promise: a cookbook.

The difference between racial and racist.

In the light of current political developements,the words "racial" and "racist" need to be explicated and put in the right context.

The word "racial" is a derivative adjective from the root noun "race" which has several shades of meaning according to the Oxford Dictionary.

Its meaning include:(i) "each of the major divisions of humankind,having distinct physical characteristics" and (ii) "a group of people sharing the same culture,language etc;an ethnic group."

The adjective "racist" is derived from the noun "racism" which according to the Oxford dictionary means:(i) "the belief that there are characteristics,abilities or qualities specific to each race" and (ii) "discrimination against or antagonism towards other races."

While "racial" has a neutral,non-emotive meaning, "racist" has emotive undertones.

The word "race" has become unpopular because of its associations with the now discredited 19th century theories of racial superiority exploited indiscriminately by certain quarters.

Today the term "ethnic group" is preferred to describe a community of people sharing the same physical and cultural characteristics.

While being partial to and protective of one's own ethnic group is natural and should be seen as an extension of loyalty towards kin and kind,being antagonistic and discriminatory towards people who do not share one's physical make-up and culture is not.

Speaking up for your own community is not an act of racism.It should be seen as a positive force,especially when the intention is to inspire and drive them to greater heights of achievement.

Asking the Malays to protect their own interests should be seen in this context,as it is natural for the chinese,Indians and other ethnic groups to consolidate their respective positions.

It is only when a goverment is prejudiced against particular ethnic groups and imposes discriminatory policies against them that it can be said to practice racism.It is only when you consistently accuse another ethnic group of being lazy or incapable that you can be said to be racist.
