Mistresses give leads in graf fight

Beijing: Authorities are using information obtained from mistress of goverment officials to crack down on corruption in southern China,sate media reported yesterday.

About 80 per cent of goverment officials convicted of corruption in Dongguan,Guangdong province,had mistresses who passed on incriminating information to police in anti-graft cases,the China Daily reported.


By law,goverment officials found to have mistresses,also known as "second wives",are automatically dismissed from their posts.


Communist Party leaders have repeatedly warned that corruption threatens the country's social and political stability.


Last week,the goverment announced a five-year plan to combat graft.
